Getting Ready for Sunday, October 4, 2009

Sermon for Sunday, October 4, 2009
“Talk To People, Not About Them”
At Oasis, we place great value on resolving our differences with one another. Gossip and slander are not tolerated; instead we encourage you to talk to those who have offended you with the goal of reconciliation. We expect everyone to practice the words of Jesus in Matthew 18:15, “if another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense.”

Getting Ready for Sunday, September 27, 2009

Sermon September 27, 2009
“Be Real”
At Oasis, we believe that authenticity is what God really wants from us not a performance. You are not expected to fit a certain mold, but rather you are expected to be the person God created you to become. Our goal is to value the way God has made you. This Church echo’s the words of David in Psalm 139:14, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.”

We are continuing our series “Inside Oasis” this Sunday as we talk about the second core value in our series of 6, “Be Real”. God has created everyone unique. There is no one else exactly like you. Unfortunately, so often we find ourselves wanting to be more like someone else, rather than being who God created us to be. In a world where we are always being compared to others, it’s refreshing to know that God simply wants us to be who we are. He wants us to be real, and not hide behind the mask that society wants us to wear. Though I still struggle with wanting to be like others, there is great freedom in knowing that all God wants me to be is Doug. Are you struggling with a certain mold that others (or possibly yourself) want to put you in? Take time this week to ask God to help you simply be the creation He wants you to be. I love the verse referenced above “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.”
Be sure to check out the songs in the chart above to better prepare yourself for our time of worship on Sunday. I really look forward to worshiping with you this week.

Your worship leader has fallen behind on the blogging. Sorry for he delay, but we should be on track for next week.
This Sunday we begin our new series on the core values of Oasis entitled “Inside Oasis”. We will be emphasizing the core values of Oasis Church, and why we have those values. This is going to be a great series for members and guest to truly find the heartbeat of Oasis Church.
Our first core value to be covered is “Take It Past Sunday”. We believe that the Christian walk is more than coming to church on Sunday, it’s an every day experience. We need to spend time with God every day as we seek His will for our lives.
Be sure to take time to listen to the music in the chart above as you prepare yourself for worship at Oasis. I am really looking forward to worshiping with you all on Sunday.
